A state of the world in which no one dies or suffers any egregious harm and everyone is reasonable, honest, and compassionate, and more often than not contented. The only known way to achieve this state of the world is through human social and technological progress. We are very unlikely ever to enjoy it. But our descendants millions of years hence might. And what we do now will determine how soon, how likely, and how many in future will enjoy it.

If the book of Genesis is not to be taken literally, why did god send himself in human form to die in order to save us from a symbolic sin committed by metaphorical characters (Adam and Eve) who never existed?
Do you think that education is the solution? In other words, would people agree with your view if they just had more knowledge? Is the problem basically one of ignorance?
Answers: Atheist, Christian
Why do Muslim nations treat women like second class citizens, not allowing education for girls, requiring women to be fully covered (even their hair and faces), throwing acid on them, etc?
Why would a god allow such suffering in this world? Why are there people with crippling, painful disorders and diseases?
Could the past be infinite? Not necessarily our universe, but time in general.
