CHRISTIAN VIEW

Only Christianity can provide a solution to the problem of sin.

We know that we aren't perfect. We know that we should do better. We know that there is a perfect moral law that governs us, and we don't live up to it (Romans 3:23).

Atheism denies all of these obvious facts.

Other worldviews recognize them, but tell us that we must do better -- that we must be perfect -- that we must fix the problem of sin.

Christianity alone tells us the obvious truth -- that we can't be perfect. We can't fix the problem of sin.

However, the God that created all of us can. (Mark 10:26-27)

In fact, He has.

Only Christianity tells us about the God who loves you so much that He took your penalty on His shoulders -- that He shed His own blood on the cross to pay the debt of our sin, provided we accept His free gift (Romans 6:23; John 3:16; Acts 20:28; Revelation 1:5; Romans 10:9).

Only Christianity fully recognizes the reality of sin, the inability of man to fix the problem, and the graciousness of a perfect God to offer to solve it for us.

ATHEIST VIEW

Naturalism has the benefit of being true (and is also revisable and improvable with new evidence), so it allows us to predict the future and solve our problems and improve our world more successfully than any other worldview can. This also means Naturalism will lead us to the moral values that will most help us and improve our lives, and not lead us to wasteful or hurtful or self-defeating behaviors. Naturalism also inspires greater awe at life, the universe, and consciousness, because it's all much more impressive and humbling when we realize no intelligent planner arranged it all or governs it. And Naturalism motivates us to take all the time others spend praying, worshipping, studying scripture, and spend that time instead continually learning about people and the world by studying science and history and our own lives, and continually examining ourselves for error and ignorance and to achieve greater self-knowledge, and thus it drives us always to become wiser and more informed and less ignorant and mistaken about everything we care about. Naturalism is also inherently cautious and self-critical and thus drives us away from extremism and dogmatism, and thus fosters a more peaceful and harmonious society.
